FRUIT REGULATIONS.
TWO CONVICTIONS RECORDED. WELLINGTON, Mar >h 9. Failure to stamp their registered numbers on eases of fruit exposed for sale on their behalf was the charge made against J. A. Gordon, market gardene* Taita, and P. J. Amery, fruiterer, Grevtown. The inspector said that registration not only afforded protection to the consumer but also served to locate the irtgin of diseased or badly-picked fruit, ana further helped to maintain the standard of quality on the market. The defendants were convicted n nd ordered to pay costs.
