An arrival at Auckland last week was the White Star steamer Herminius, with 6000 tons of basic slag from Antwerp. All the cargo will be unloaded at Auckland; -■• Mr Allen Bell, M.P. for the Bay of Islands, has just finished a tour of inspection of 700 miles oj roads in his electorate, and he has a programme including 650 miles of roads ahead. A previous tour that Mr Bell made to cover his electorate necessitated nearly a thou* sand miles of travelling. -*
