NEW RAILWAY LINK.
AUCKLAND TO BAY OB’ PLENTY. AUCKLAND, March 6. ' Arrangements are being made for running this week the first through trains over the new railway between Waihi and Taneatua in the Bay of Plenty. This important section, which was ’ recently completed by the Armstrong-Whitworth Company, establishes continuous railway communication between Auckland and the heart of the fertile Bay of Plenty sheep farming and dairying region. The line will be finally examined on Friday by the inspecting engineer of the Public Works Department prior to that department taking over at the official opening on March 28. It is not yet certain when the Railways Department will assume control, but from the date of the opening the line will be--fully staffed by 1 railway officials, and a time table is now being prepared. /
