THE KAIKORAI CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. . The forty-fourth annual meeting of the Kaikorai Football Club was held on Tuesday evening in the Kaikorai School Gymnasium, Mr R. M'Meeking presiding over a large attendance. The Chairman said he hoped to see the younger club members appearing at practices in the forthcoming season as regularly as they attended lust year. His presence in the chair was owing to the muchregretted death of the club’s president,, Mr A. O. Buehler. The speaker specially mentioned the work that had been done by the ladies in connection with the bazaar, and in providing afternoon tea. They were also indebted to Messrs G. M'Hardy, sen., M'Hardy, jun., J. R. Wilson, R. Herd, J. Sim, and the coaches. Others, too numerous to name, had generously assisted the elub socially and generally. It was due most to Mr Sim, the architect, that the work of improving the pavilion had been carried to a successful issue. The report was taken as read. The balance sheet showed the total receipts to be £714 7s 2d (£l5l 9s 8d general fund and £362 17s 6d building fund) and the total expenditure £638 6s 5d (£l4l Os 9d general fund and £497 5s 8d building fund). The credit balance was £76 Os 9d, the assets 545 fully paid up £1 shares in the Kaikorai Ground Company, £1 17s in outstanding subscriptions, and the liabilities six debentures unpaid, £4. Mr Herd stated that Kaikorai would play Invercargill Pirates at Invercargill on Easter Saturday. In the morning the Kaikorai first fifteen would meet the Invercargill Pirates, and after the match the party would leave for Stewart Island. Ferndale House had been specially engaged, he believed, and launches would take the visitors to points of interest around the island. PIRATES CLUB. The annual meeting of th e Pirates Rugby Football Club was held on Thursday in the Returned Soldiers’ Association clubrooms. Mr D. M. Stuart, president of the club, presided over a large attendance of members. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, referred to the success of the junior members of the club last season. The juniors’ work was of the utmost importance. He wished to strike a note of warning, however—th e juniors should show more ambition in trying to work up. They should not be content to stay in one grade, but should put forth their best endeavours to reach the next grade. The club’s finances showed an improvement on the previous year, and the prospects for the coming season wer e very bright. Tire report and balance sheet we.e adopted. A telegram was received from the secretary of the Matakanui Football Club inviting a team from the Pirates Club to visit Matakanui at Easter to play a match.—lt was decided to accept the invitation. Brownlie has been appointed captain of the All Blacks and Lucas vice-captain. A statement was made by Mr S. S. Dean (chairman of the Man agement Committee) to-day to the effect that the matter has not yet been discussed by the New Zealand Union or the Man agement Committee, nor will it be discussed until all medical reports on the selected players ar e to hand. THE OLYMPIC FUND. APPEAL TO RUGBY PLAYERS. WELLINGTON, March 5. The president of the New Zealand Rugby Union (Mr H. Manoy) and Mr S. S. Dean (chairman of the Management .Committee) have issued an appeal to Rugby players throughout the

Dominion asking them to contribute to the New Zealand Olympic representatives’ fund, pointing out that “ Rugby players are not that alone; they are New Zealand sportsmen above all.” THE WARATAH’S LAST MATCH. VANCOUVER, March 3. The Waratahs easily defeated the Vancouver representatives in their last game before sailing in the Aorangi, showing an immense superiority. They went over in the first two minutes, Ross converting. Then they were over again 10 minutes later. The representatives were almost helpless in the scrum and in the open play. At half-time the score was 14 to nil. The representatives then improved, but were not good enough, the game ending 19 to nil. The visitors could readily have doubled the score. SEND-OFF TO THE WARATAHS. VANCOUVER, March 6. The Waratahs were given a great sendoff at a civic banquet last night. The Mayor (Mr L. D. Taylor) announced that he had presented the visitors with a cup for competition among the schools of New South Wales. GAMES IN ENGLAND AND WALES. LONDON, March 11. At Cardiff, Ireland beat Wales by 13 to 10. In the county championship final at Bradford, Yorkshire beat Cornwall bv 12 to 8. J
