RAINFALL FOR FEBRUARY.
NORTH ISLAND.
SOUTH ISLAND.
A little act of courtesy . was registered to the credit of Mr Justice Adams in the Supremo Court at Greymouth on Monday afternoon (relates the Greymouth Evening Star). Noticing that the rays of the sun, shining brightly through one of the court room windows, wefe proving trying to the eyes of some of the jurymen, his Honor gave instructions for the blind to be lowered. A small thing, perhaps, but small things are often overlooked in modern life.
The policy of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Association in seeking further tariff protection for secondary industries, was endorsed by delegates to the New Zealand Federated Ironmasters’ Industrial Association of Employers. Delc-ates said further protection- would enable them to employ more workers, thus helping to overcome the problem cf unemployment. A fearsome sight attracted a crowd of thirsty-looking souls in front of the New Zealand Hotel in Christchurch a few days ago. A largo cask of beer, when being unloaded from a lorry, bounched on to the roadway, split its’ full rounded sides, and spilled-on the roadway iu an amber, frothy flood. it may be said that many “ choose,” but few are chosen. —Arkansas Gazette.
