Vhilst in Washington, Mr M. Cohen, who returned to Palmerston North last week after a visit to the United States, had the privilege of paying an official visit t 0 , the x ,Sectary of State and also one to the Navy Department (relates the Manamtn Evening Standard). He had the pleasure of meeting again some of the officers whom he had welcomed as members of the. American Fleet while in his capacityas chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board m 1925.
A beautiful specimen of lily auratum stalk is to be seen in the garden, at the home of Mrs Frank Milne, “ Brandon Villa, Wyndham (says the Mataura Ensign). The lily, which carries 18 perfect blooms, measures 7ft 9in in height and is certainly the giant of the -garden and stands out most conspicuously. The flowers themselves are of large dimensions and .excellently, marked and of- outstanding quality. Mrs Milne is a most enthusiastic horticulturist,.
