Fire alarms newly installed in Edinburg’h streets work on the telephone principle. Once the glass • is broken it is only necessary to call into the instrument. Footprints taken on the lines of the fingerprint system are being used for identifying criminals in Ceylon, where a great part of the population go barefoot.
