A motor bus was shinped by the steamer Hinemoa from Auckland for Norfolk Island last Tuesday. The residents are awaiting its arrival with feelings of keen anticipation (states the Star). Just a short time ago the first motor car made its appeaarnce at the island, and as every horse and goat bolted on sighting it special restrictions had to be imposed, one being that a prior announcement of any proposed journey has to he made. Since then a Norfolk motor fleet has grown slowly. The bus is to be used for conveying tourists round the island, and on race day—the big annual event on the island it will probably be in keen demand to convey the residents to and from the course. At the Rangitata River one day recently a fisherman landed six salmon, one of which turned tho scales at 171bs .'reports the Ashburton Guardian). The others weighed about 141 b each. Salmon were plentiful at both the Rakaia and Rangitata rivers recently, and many varied catches were reported.
