A maimed soldier applied to the Prime Minister in Christchurch last Thursday for an increase in his pension (reports the Press). The applicant, Mr Basil Radcliffe, lost both his legs at Bapaume’ in 1918. and he was married just a little after the expiry of the time limit of four years, so that bis wife was not entitled to the full pension. He was entitled, it was feaid, to an allowance of £3 a week for an attendant, but his wife received only £2, making the total payment received by him £5 a week. He asked that this be increased to £6. Mr Coates said he would consider the application and see what could be done.
