UNWANTED IMMIGRANT.
HIS DEPORTATION ORDERED.
WELLINGTON, January 10. William O’Keefe, aged 40, a fireman, who arrived by the Manuka on September 3, having stowed away and landed here, was charged to-day with unlawfully landing, being a prohibited immigrant. The Collector of Customs said that O’Keefe was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment in Bathurst gaol in July, 1924, and his name came within Section 14 of the Immigration Restriction Act. ’ “ I came over here to better myself, hot to lead a dishonest life,” said O’Keefe from the box.
Mr E. Page, S.M., ordered his deportation by the Marama to-morrow.
