RUGBY FOOTBALL. THE WARATAHS IN FRANCE. PARIS, January 15. At Toulouse the Waratahs defeated Midi by 11 points to 3. Heavy rain throughout spoiled the game. The Waratahs were frequently outspeeded by the lighter French forwards, but they finished strongly, and outlasted the Frenchmen. Faulty footwork and bad handling lost the Waratahs opportunities. Although the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association suggested that the cyclist Standen should leave Sydney today for New Zealand, this cannot be* arranged, as sanction has to be forthcoming from the controlling body, which meets on Tuesday. If the necessary permission is given and Standen is willing he may leave for the Dominion on the 27th inst.
