The total number of deaths registeriu in New Zealand during 1927 was b 390, of which males contributed 3456 and females 2937. The total represents a proportion of 8.96 deaths per 1000 of ths, population. Seven hundred and forty eight of the deaths were of children under five years of age, and of these 589 Weie under* one year of age. During the live births registered totalled 13,053, in the proportion of 18.29. per 100-3 of population.
