No able seamen are employed on the Westmoreland, a unit of the Federal Company's fleet of Home traders, at present at Auckland, as all the work on deck is done by- the 2 c cadets who are included in the ship’s ere.r (says the Star). The lads receive _ four years’ training before getting a junior officer’s appointment. The Devon and the Northumberland are also used as training ships by the Federal Company.
