“This man had a pea-rifle with him and was after rabbits,” said Senior Sergeant Edwards in the Auckland Police Court, when a man was charged with taking a firearm into the sanctuary for game at Lake St. John (renorts the New Zealand Herald). Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., said he cV.y not think much harm could be done is dn-k with a pea-rifle. “I have shot them myself with one, sir,” said the senior sergeant. “Have you?” replied the magistrate. “Did "on land any?” Mr Edwards admitted having had some success. “Good shooting.” said the magistrate before proceeding with the case.
