A few weeks ago it was anticipated that the coming dairying season would commence earlier than usual in Poverty Bay (says the Herald), but the current factory figures do not support this anticipation. There is very little improvement in the factory figures to date, but the present conditions are considerably better than at this time last year, when a verypoor opening was experienced, usually, butter-making for export commences about the middle of August, and it is anticipated that this year will be no exception. Last spring, however, the first export butter was not manufactured until the beginning of September. The farmers have come through a very good winter ■with an abundance of feed and the herds in good condition, the season now opening should be a good one for production.
