Auckland’s rich endowment of parks and open spaces has again been augmented (telegraphs our special correspondent), this time by a magnificent gift by Mr Htdlyburton Johnstone, a retired farmer, ’ate of Hauraki Plains, of a fine property of four and a-half acres of land at Point Chevalier, together with a house of 14 rooms. The area i s to be set aside for bowling and croquet, greens and lawn tennis courts. In the terms of the preliminary agreement Mr Johnstone will vacate the property, but he will receive an annuity of £2OO until his death.
