WELLINGTON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent July 29. G. Jones arrived here yesterday with Commendation, who looks in fine form and ready to do himself justice on the other side. Mr W. H. Gaisford came down to see his horse shipped, and stated that no rider has been engaged. M. M'Carten is anxious to get the mount at Caulfield, but no doubt the jockey who rides him at Randwiek will be on him in the Caulfield Cup, for which Commendation is one of the prime fancies. The Otaki trainer A. D. Webster was also on the Ulimaroa with a team of four, namely, the hardy First Acre, the rising two-year-old Greenfield (Acre — Lady Moutoa). the four-year-old Moutoa Wonder, and the Absurd gelding Asleep. The last-named is owned by an old Melbourne man, Mr H. Stanbridge, who is going over to see his colours carried. It is intended to race Moutoa Wonder at the ponies.

The Paper Money—Epitaph filly Endorse was also on board, and goes into G. Price’s stable at Randwick to be prepared for the A.J.C. Gimeraek Stakes. Mr G. M. Currie returned from Sydney on Wednesday, after spending two months there. One of his team. The Thorn, who went over with J. William-
