HOCKEY. NEW ZEALAND TEAM'S TOUR. CHRISTCHURCH, July 28. The following is -the complete itinerary of the tour of the New Zealand hockey team in Australia:— July 30.—v. Victoria, at Melbourne. A -.gust 3. —v. Duntroon, at Duntroon. August 6. —v. Central and Southern Districts, at Goulbourn. August 8. —v. Kenmore, at Goulbourn. August 10. —v. New South Wales, at Sydney. August 16. —v. Combined Universities, at Sydney. August 20. —v. Queensland, at Brisbane. August 26.—v. Second Queensland, at Brisbane. August 28.—v. Australia, at Brisbane. August 30. —v. Metropolis, at Sydney. Leave Sydney on September 3 and arrive at Auckland on September 6. THE SHIELD TOURNAMENT. CHRISTCHURCH, July 29. At a meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Association the Wellington and Canterbury Associations wrote regretting that on account of there being no available players both associations were compelled to withdraw their entries for the shield tournament. The Canterbury /Association offered to send a team to meet the winner of the Auckland v. Waikato match in September. It was decided to advise Auckland of the withdrawals. NEW ZEALAND TEAMS SUCCESS. MELBOURNE, July 30. The New Zealand team defeated University easily by 11 goals to 1. The visitors displayed great dash and accuracy. The game was hard and fast. MATCH WITH VICTORIA. MELBOURNE, July 30. New Zealand and Victoria drew, 3 goals each. July 31. The weather was fine and there was a good attendance at the hockey match. The New Zealand team was: Fletcher, ■ Mahoney, Soper, Cole, Morris. Hove, Seccombe, Lusty. Bell, Watts, and Spieres. Victoria were the first to score. New ' Zealand then attacked, and Hore goaled cleverly. Victoria again attacked, gaining the second goal. Then briliant halfback play by Hore resulted in Watts evening the score. New Zealand were attackin- at the bell. After the interval New Zealand led off strongly, the backs showing up well. Spieres was playing cleverly. New Zealand’s play was systematic, but smart, and Victoria’s goal was threatened, the goalie clearing. New Zealand made many attacks, but the defence of the Victorian backs was too strong, and the home team then took a turn at the offensive. After many shots the Victorians scored, but Hore soon equalised the scores with a ■ clever goal. Soper brilliantly stopped a strong Victorian attack, but the home team was still aggressive at the final bell. New Zealand’s best players were: Hore, - Soper, Bell, Watts, and Lusty. WRESTLING.
