"■» To become a great-great-grandmother is a rare distinction which has fallen to Mrs Elizabeth Inker, of Canton, Cardiff. One of her great-grandchildren, Mrs Iren? Bollettfi of Grangetown, has given birth to a son, thus creating a living chain of fixe generations. The grcat-grcat-graml-mother has eight children, over 40 grandchildren, and about an j?qual number of great-grandchildren. A reporter interviewed the secretary of the Meteorological Department and ’ the present, director, Mr Bates, and was given to understand that satisfactory arrangements had been made for the future conduct of this public service, by which full advantage would be taken of Mr Bates’s long experience of New Zealand meteorology- He will act in a consultative capacity io the department and the new director.
