“These are the first prosecutions under the new Act,” said Mr Hubble, in the Auckland Police Court on Thursday last in bringing charges on behalf of the registrar of electrical wiremeu against three men for failing to obtain licenses before being engaged upon wiring work. Mr Hubble said the Act provided for the setting up of a wiremen’s registration board, and was designed to eliminate incompetent men. Alfred Thomas Bloomfield was fined £1 on each of two charges. Fines totalling £8 were imposed on Alexander Macdonald for four breaches of the Act, and_ Ronald Macdonald was ordered to pay costs on two charges.
