PRICE OF PETROL.
WELLINGTON, July 29. From Monday next the price of petrol in Wellington and suburbs will be increased by threepence for the first gallon or part of a gallon. The petrol service proprietors describe it as “a slight adjustment of petrol prices” rendered necessary’ —(1) Because service proprietors in the suburbs object to having to open up at ni<?ht for customers who require only from half a gallon to a gallon of petrol ; (2) because there is a great deal of leakage from their petrol tanks, causing serious loss ; (3) because too much petrol is given to customers wheu those working bowser pumps have not time to let the amount of petrol in the bowser, which may be more than the customer requires, fall back to the required level.
