Time was when the housewife, advertising for help, sat down hoping for the best, expecting nothing, and getting just what she. expected (says the Christchurch Sun). Things have changed in the last 10 years. Perhaps the rosy bait of domestic help thrown out by the High Commissioner has something to do with the new state of affairs.. At least 39 girls answered an advertisement for a domestic help in the suburbs a few days ago, and all through the day hopeful' applicants stormed the position.
