(From Our Own Correspondent.i LONDON, April 23. The biggest deal in seats in the history of the English theatre has been made over “The Desert Song,” the new musical play at Drury Lane. After a conference with Sir A. Butt (managing director of Drury Lane), representatives of the principal ticket-selling “libraries” bought seats to the amount of more than £47,000. The previous best deals have been over “No, No, Nanette,” “Lady, Be Good,” and “Sunny.” Each of these transactions was originally between £20,000 and £25,000. “The Drury Lane deal represents £5OO worth of seats per performance till the end of July,” remarked Sir Alfred Butt. He said a condition of the deal was that the librarian shall sell the seats to the public at ordinary prices, plus only the normal agency commission. “THE WHITE CHATEAU.” “The White Chateau,” it is expected, will follow “No Gentleman” at the St. Alartin’a.
