At the meeting of the Wanganui-Rangi-tikei Electric Power Board on Friday (reports our special correspondent at Wanganui) a complaint was made by Mr G. V. Pearce, of Kakaramea, that magpies in the district had been electrocuted lately by the dozen. It was a serious matter as these birds were of great use to the farmers. He suggested that they should be protected as in Australia, and that something should be done by the board to stop the tragedy that was occurring. The matter is to be gone into to see if anything can be done to relieve the position, though the engineer could not offer much hope.-
