THE ROYAL TOUR. RUGBY, June 14. lhe Renown, with the Duke and Duchess of York on board, passed through the Suez Canal to-day. The High Commissioner in Egypt, Lord Lloyd, went on board to greet the Royal tourists, and remained during the passage through the bitter Lakes section of the Canal.

DUKE LANDS AT ISMALIA. CAIRO, June 14. When the Renown arrived at Ismalia the Duke landed and paid a visit to the battalion of Somerset Light Infantry, which is stationed there, A representative of King Fuad called on the Duke. The voyage will be resumed from here to-mor-row.

RENOWN ARRIVES AT MALTA. MALTA, June 17. The Renown arrived this afternoon and was escorted into the harbour the first destroyer flotilla and a fleet of aeroplanes. All the warships were gaily dressed, ami fired a Royal salute. Maltese crowds lined the battlements and acclaimed the arrival of the Royal ship by hand-clapping and cheering. After numerous official calls their Highnesses landed and proceeded through the decorated streets to the Valetta Palace, where an investiture was held. Later they drove to the Governor’s country reside ace, where they are staying the night.

DUCHESS IN TORPEDO ROOAI. MELBOURNE, June 17. A wireless from the Renown states that the Duchess descended to the nethermost depths of the ship, and,’ accompanied ty the Duke, visited the torpedo room, n siting light of descending the ladders in order to reach it, scorning a proffered overall and accepting only gloves to protect her hands. She moved among the oily death-dealing monsters, and looked at the yawning si eel tubes while a torpedo officer explained the mysteries of their working. The crew gave a loading demonstration.
