RAILWAY PROBLEMS.
AUSTRAL!AN CONFERENCE. AVELLINGTON, Alarch 2. Recognising the mutual advantages that result from an exchange of views on common problems the Railways Department lias arranged for four of its prominent officers to attend the general (officers) conference of the Australian railways which is to commence at Sydney on March 14. The representatives are; Messrs D. Rodic (commercial manager/, E. T. .Spidy (superintendent of workshops), H. J. Wynne (signal and electrical engineer) and 11. A alentine (chief accountant), and they will leave to-morrow for Auckland to connect with the Alarama for Sydney; An investigation independent of the conference, which is to last for a week, will be carried out in Alelboune and Adelaide, and the expects to leave the Commonwealth for the return journey on April 1. The agenda paper to be placed before the conference is a formidable document containing 201 remits, including 25 from the Dominion. They cover every subject of railway activity, ’ including traffic, locomotive, way and works, electical and signalling, accounts, .advertising, staff, medical and stores.
