Referring to an article in the Auckland Star on the guns in Albert Park, an old Auckland resident says that undoubtedly one gun is from Waterloo. It was given to an Englishman named Boyd when he went on a yachting cruise in the South Seas. Boyd was killed in the islands,, the yacht was lost on ‘ the Australian coast, and the gun came into the possession of a connection of Boyd who lived in Auckland—the late Mr S. Boyd Browning. The two Russian guns in the park were sent to Auckland by, the British War ’Office after the Crimean • War. ’' Officers of the Russian warship- who visited Auckland some years ago were surprised to find these guns here. 'They had believed thht all •- captured "• Russian guns had ’ befen destroyed.
