Airs Alabel Bedford, of .New Plymouth', was awarded £2OO general and £55 13s special damages at the Supreme Court last week in a claim against Cowper Aloore Jones, of Auckland, for injuries received in a motor accident, for which the latter had been held liable. When Ratana, the Maori “prophet” went into the box at the Wanganui Supremo Court in connection with the Ratana Temple case he applied for an interpreter. Counsel stated that Ratana was not so fluent a linguist as Peter Moko, his “Prime Alinister.” His Honor: That will be a decided advantage. Some of them are far too fluent.
