Knives may be polished much quicker ot a board that has been warmed, and if you use a machine it is a good plan to warm the knives first by placing the blades in warm water and then wiping them dry. The easiest way to peel an onion is to hold it with a fork and cut off the top and bottom, when the outer skin will come away. If onions are held under water while being peeled, the eyes will not smart. When baking small cakes or buns, flour the tins instead of greasing them. The cake will not stick in the tins, and will bake quite as well. A strip of carpet glued to a piece of wood will remove mud from shoes without scratching the leather.
