INFLUENZA ON HORORATA.

WELLINGTON, March 1. When wireless information was received on Monday that influenza had occurred on the Hororata during her voyage from London to Wellington, the authorities of the Health Department decided that the most searching inspection should be made on arrival of the vessel in port to-day. The Medical Officer of Health, Dr W. F. Findlay, accompanied by the Health Officer (Mr H. M’Lean), boarded the vessel in the stream. The medical examination revealed the fact that no cases of influenza had occurred since February 12. It was also found that the influenza’ had been of a very mild type, and further that it had been confined entirely to the crew, the total cases numbering ten. In the circumstances was granted, the authorities stating that the incubation period of the disease is two days. In addition to 100 members of the crew, the Hororata carried 547 passengers..
