Early ou Tuesday George William Thomas, aged 34 years, escaped from the Waikune prison camp at Erua. about - five miles from the National Park railwaystation. Thomas is well known to the police especially in the. Auckland province, and he has travelled under seven aliases. On October 29 he was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for receiving stolen property. In tho New Plymouth' Supreme Court, Mr Justico Ostler presiding, Leslie M'Whirter appeared for sentence on. a charge of forgery, and was admitted to probation for 12 months on. condition that he paid £2 2s, tho - cost of prosecution. Robert Thomas Samuel Brown ■ pleaded guilty to 10 charges of indecent assault and an indecent act, and was sentenced to two years’ hard labour. . -
