MR S. M. BRUCE.
ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, January 31. The Prime Minister of Australia, Mr S. M. Bruce, who has been attending the Imperial Conference, arrived by the Niagara from Vancouver, accompanied by Mrs Bruce. They were met on arrival by the Hon. J. A. Young (Minister of Health) and welcomed on behalf of the New Zealand Government. They were later met by the Mayor (Mr G. liaildon) and the town clerk (Mr J. S. Brigham) on behalf of the citizens. Mr and Mrs Bruce were taken on a motor tour of the city and suburbs in company with Mr Young and the Mayor. The visitors greatly admired the Ellerslie racecourse and the show of begonias in the greenhouses, and later were much interested in the magnitude and arrangements of the Auckland Trotting Club at Epsom. After a run through Cornwell Park the visitors were taken to the top of Mount Eden, by which time the rain had cleared and they had a magnificent view of the city and its surroundings. Mr Bruce then attended the weekly luncheon of the Auckland Rotary Club, at which he gave an address. In the afternon Mr and Mrs Bruce played golf at the Middlemore links, and in the evening they were the guests at a dinner at Government House. They left by the Niagara this evening in continuation of their voy-. age to Australia.
