RECORD SIZED BOOTS.
INTERESTING COMPARISONS. INVERCARGILL, January 29. Recently a young Maori took his boots to be repaired in a shop at Upper Hutt. The boots were measured and proved to be size 13£. The bootmaker/considered the boots of record size, and said he had never seen boots as large in a lifetime spent in the trade. Southland can go one better. A local manufacturer yesterday showed a reporter a pattern, of a boot made for an Edinburgh clerk who died recently, his effects being sent to relatives in this" part of New Zealand. The sole was 15 a inches in length and the boot size was 19. “This is no fiction,” - said i the head of the firm. “It is an actual : patterpj[ am showing you. As a matter of fact we have made to order here larger boots than those worn by the Maori youth at Upper Hutt, For years we made boots for three sisters, the smallest of whom took size 10, the next size 12|, and the third size 14s. We called her Cinderella.” . 4 •
