OTAGO EXPANSION LEAGUE.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETS. The Executive Committee of the Otago Expansion League met on Wednesday even, ing, Mr S. B. Macdonald presiding. The other members present were Messrs G. J. Errington, L. D. Ritchie, Harman Reeves, R. B. Tennent, W. R. Brugh, V. Jacobs, D. Tannock, E. Tamblyn, 11. M. Mackey, and J. Inglis Wright. A letter was received from Mr P. R. Sargood intimating his departure for London, and requested leave of absence for the period of his absence, which was accordingly granted. Letters requesting information and literature which had come through the City Council direct to the league were dealt with, the replies forwarded to the secretary being approved. The Secretary reported the action taken regarding the f >rmation of Advisory Railway Boards or. which the various public bodies and trades were associated as requested by the Prime Minister. As the league has for many years conducted a Railway Committee representing the various local suburban interests, it was gratifying to report that the portfolio of Suburban Traffic had been offered to Mr G. J. Errington, the chairman of that committee, and the legitimate requirements of the daily suburban traveller will be his continued care.

The official itinerary of their Royal High, nesses the Duke and Duchess of York was received from the Internal Affairs Department and pleasure was expressed by the executive that tho early recommendations of the league for a visit to the Southern Lakes district had been adopted. The condition of the Main South road, especially the section from the Taieri bridge to Milburn, was brought up, and ,ie matter was referred to the chairman of the. District Highways Council for a report on the possibility of improvement.
