INVENTIONS AND APPLIANCES OF INTEREST TO AGRICULTURES.

SWEEP RAKE

ANIMAL OILER-. Three bare are hinged at the base of the pedestal of this oiler. Rods from the tops of the bars operate faucets under the oil , «tank. When a hog rubs against

a bar, a faucet is opened and oil runs , into the trough-shaped spreader, and thence over the hog’s back. Springs return the bars to normal position and shut off the faucets.

The pull poles of this rake are connected to the crossbar of the rake head and at the rear to a power lift device which allows the traction power to be used io lift the teeth when loaded. The

lifting device may be locked in raised or lowered position. Spring members between the teeth and the rake head allow enough give to prevent damage through the teeth striking obstructions. NOSE RING FOR HOGS. The noints of this nose ring are closed through the cartilage of the hog’s nose. The prong is welded to the ring. When the animal is standing erect the curved

arm of the prong is parallel with the ground. An attempt at rooting or fence lifting forces the short end of the prong info the tender part of the snout above the mouth.

FEED HOPPER. This hopper is designed for feeding dry mash. A triangular shaker member is mounted on trunnions on the end walls. In central position, the shaker closes the

discharge opening. When moved the shaker leaves this opening clear, and the teeth on its upper side break up lumps, and allow the feed to flow evenly.

PLOUGH. In this plough, the landward and the forward furrow wheels are carried on independent axles connected together so that they operate simultaneously for raising

or lowering the plough. The furrow wheel may be adjusted independently to compensate for the depth of the furrow, and keep the ploughs parallel with the ground.

JACKET FOR MILK CANS. This jacket has an open bottom and closed top. It consists of an inner and outer layer of waterproof fabric, and an intermediate layer of paper. The

.paper layer is loosely held between the others, and in this way air spaces are provided which insulate the can from the exterior temperature.
