GORED BY A BULL.

LITTLE GIRL ATTACKED. CHRISTCHURCH, Januarv 21. This morning Unah Mackie, aged 10, daughter of Mr and Mrs Grant Mackie., was gored by a bull in a field at Cashmere She is suffering from shocking injuries, and now lies a patient in Lewisham Hospital. Her collarbone is broken, her breast and body are injured, and her left arm is torn and lacerated. But for the fact that the bull was tethered to a chain the girl would have been killed. Fortunately she had sufficient strength left to crawl away from the animal. Mr . Mackie’s little daughter is very fond of animals. The bull was in a field near her home at .Cashmere, and it is thought that she went into the paddock to pat the bull. She has a habit of caressing any animal she sees. Evidently the bull turned on her, knocked her down, and started piercing her with his horns. When she was picked up her clothes were in tatters, and she was bleeding profusely. Mr White happened to be in the field nearby. He saw what had happened and ran over to her immediately. The little girl was very weak and . suffering from shock, and .Mr White carried her to her.mother. The injured girl was conveyed to fhe Lewissham Hospital as soon as possible, and Dr W. H. Simpson was called to attend to her. An operation was performed this afternoon. The little girl, who has a sound constitution, should recover, though . she is suffering to—from shock.
