PERAMBULATORS ON TRAMS
AUCKLAND, September 3. A departure from the prevailing regulations governing the running of the trani service in Auckland and one which will be appreciated by mothers with infants, was made by the city council last evening. A fortnight ago Mr G. Brownlee suggested that the council should obtain information regarding the carrying of folding perambulators on cars with a view to considering the advisability of allowing them to be carried in Auckland. The information subsequently obtained showed that folding were carried on cars in Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin. The acting manager of the tramways reported on the matter last evening, and on his recommendation it was decided to permit perambulators to be carried on tramcars, the number to be limited to two per car. but that they be not carried during rush hours.
