IRRIGATION AT EARNSCLEUGH

At a largely-attended representative meeting of irrigation settlers held on the 20th in the Town Hall, Clyde, strong indignation was expressed at the arbitrary attitude of the Public Works Department, and the following resolution was unanimously nassed:—“That this meeting of Sandy Point settlers expresses absolute confidence in the board of control in the administration of the irrigation scheme, and emphatically objects to the Public Works Department's action in eliminating the board.” , It was decided that the motion should be forwarded to the Minister of Public Works through Mr J. Horn. The following motions were also passed: “That, failing a satisfactory result of negotiations through the member for the district, Mr W. A. Bodkin be appointed to obtain a judgment from the court on the whole question of the rights of settlers under their contracts, final action in this regard being deferred until a future meet' “That the members of the board of control continue to a committee representing the settlers.”
