The Wellington Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday last discussed the at rate of shipping freight charged to New Zealand main ports as woll as to minor ports. The chamber was of the opinion that the present systom was wrong in principle and recommended that representations be made to oversea shipping companies that the rates of shipping freights to and from the different shipping ports of the Dominion should be in accordance with the facilities given and the cost of handling the goods at »ach port. Lower freights both inward and outward should apply where larre expenditures had been incurred to enable ships to be cleared expeditiously and at a minimum oost to the shipping companies.
