While being towed to Hokianga by the auxiliary schooner Isabella e Fraine, the new 40-foot launch Invincible, owned by the Hokianga Dairy Company, was lost in the darkness in the early hours of Tuesday morning last through the breaking of the towline between Poor , Knights and Cape Brett. The launch was being taken round the coast for work in the Hokianga Harbour. It was valued at £I2OO, and was not insured. Vessels have been advised by wireless to keep a look-out. The Marton branch of the Farmers’ Union passed a resolution on July 14 against the Summer-time Bill, and decided to ask the Hon. E. Newman to oppose the measure when it comes before the Upper House. The meeting also objected to the selection of the agrioultnral college site, alleging that too much importance was being paid to the dairying industry in the nutter of selection.
