WEIGHT OF FLEECES.
SIR JOSEPH WARD'S STATEMENT. HASTINGS Jut, 17. In reference to Sir Joseph Ward’s statement in the House of Representatives on Tuesday that it now took 50 fleeces to make a bale of wool, whereas five years ago 45 fleeces went to the vale, several sheepfarmers here say that such is not the case but that in fact fleeces have increased in weight. Figures in the Official Year Book confirm this. The average weight of a fleeso per sheep in Hawke’s Bay has increased from 8.151 b in 1920-21, to 9.031 b in 1924-25.
