Spurious coins are again circulating in Auckland. On Monday a bad half-crown was brought to the Star office for inspection. It is a passable imitation in appearance, but has the undoubted sound of the “dud” when thrown on a counter. Still, it could easily be accepted as genuine if not “rung,” especially at night. ' Peculiarly enough, a girl from a business establishment refused to accept such a coin—from a bank, of all placets 1 Two Hawke’s Bay drovers recently completed an exceptionally long drive with cattle. They set out from Tautane Station, Waitnikurau, with 150 head, and picked up another mob of 200 odd on the route, and took the whole mob through to Tauinarunui, a distance of over 257 miles.
