Commodore G. Hyde, commodore of the .Royal Australian Navy, recently unveiled a memorial to Captain James Cook at Bustard Bay, Queensland, not far from the spot where that navigator landed 156 years ago. The impressive, simple ceremony lasted three minutes on the headland, where Round Hill Creek enters the sea. A concrete obelisk. Bft 6in high, has been erected, with a bronze tablet, inscribed as follows: “Under the lee of this point Lieutenant James Cook landed May 24. 1770.” Tha unveiling ceremony took place in the pretence of about 100 resident* visitors, and a party of bluejaokat*
