INVENTIONS AND APPLIANCES OF INTEREST TO AGRICULTURE.

MACHINE FOR SOWING SEED. This machine has six chain-driven sowing wheels turning in the hoppers. Ihe sowing wheels have a series of cups

which fill themselves in the hopper. AH the seeds except one fall back into the hopper, and each cup discharges one seed as it passes its lowest point. COULTER AND JOINTER ATTACHMENT. The object of this device if to prevent the common trouble of brash lodging between the coulter and the jointer and

blocking the former. The jointer arm here is so shaped as to position the jointer in rear of and in line with the coulter. BEET TOPPER. In front of the ploughs of the digger is a gauge drum on which are carried the topping knife and knives for cutting the

foliage. This drum riding over the beets, adjusts the topping knife to cut at the correct height. The front drum is for breaking down the foliage. EAR CONVEYOR FOR CORN HUSKING MACHINES. This conveyor consists of a metal trough in two hinged sections in which an endless belt with feeder blades, operates to

carry the ears from the machine to the receptacle. The conveyor may be folded back, (see dotted lines), when the machine is on the road. MARKER FOR CORN PLANTERS. This machine dispenses with the check row wire. Above the seed box is a transverse shaft, gear driven from the axle, which operates a crank which en-

gages the tip arm of the marker. At each turn of the trip arm seed is dropped and the marker shank is forced down, marking the hill. MANURE DISTRIBUTOR. Manure is forked from the waggon body into the middle hopper, in which revolves an agitating cone. In the front hopper is a vertical shaft with super-

imposed knives which draw the manure from the middle hopper and cut it up. It then passses through a chute, being further pulverised, and is spread in a row.
