CHARGES OF THEFT.

CONVICTIONS AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, July 1. Frank Garnsey, 29 years of age, a plumber, pleaded guilty in the Police Court to two charges of failing to account for £77 10s to Messrs H. R. Hcllaby (Ltd.). He was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. James Fleming, aged 24, at present serving four months for theft at Wellington, was charged with breaking and entering and the theft of money and goods valued at £3ss 5s Bd, the property of Mr H. J. Walter, storekeeper, Blockhouse Bay. Mr Francis, finger print expert, gave evidence that the finger prints from a pane of glass in Mr Walter's shop compared with accused's finger-prints in the Terrace Gaol. He was perfectly satisfied that they were Fleming’s. The accused was sentenced to six months’ hard labour for theft, to be cumulative with his present i sentence. He was committed for. trial on the more serious charges. It was stated that accused had deserted from s Canadian vessel in New Zealand during the last tkm or four months.
