PAHIATUA, July 1. When a penalty of £4 was announced by the magistrate for exposing Uce-lnfected sheep for sale, one of the defendants at the back of the court uttered a low whistle as an expression of his consternation or surprise at the amount. The magistrate happened to hear this, and told the defendant to stand up. “When you come Into this court/' said Mr Mowlem, “you are supposed to behave yourself and not make any remarks whatever.
