RAILWAY SUPERANNUATION.
TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES. WELLINGTON, July 1. This week’s Gazette contains amendments to the Railway Superannuation Fund regulations. It is provided that any person temporarily employed bv the department who is eligible for appointment to the permanent- itafl may, subject to the approval of the department, pay contributions’ to the fund during and in respec of his temporary employment. The rate of contribution payable by any contingent contributor shall be determined bv reference to his age at the date of nis la6t engagement as a temporary employee in the department. The contributions of contingent contributors shall form part of the fund. If any contingent contributor be. comes ineligible for or declines to accept permanent employment in the department or dies while temporarily employed by it, or elects to join the fund only as from the date of nis appointment to the permanent staff of the department, or if hie services be dispensed with, then the whole amount of his contributions to the fund shall he refunded without interest. Nothing shall entitle any contingent contributor to the rights and benefits of the fund unless he is appointed to the permanent staff or the department.
