WELLINGTON EDUCATION BOARD.

LABOUR MEMBER’S QUESTIONS. WELLINGTON, June 30. Developments are expected in connection with the financial position of the Wellington Education Board, about which more will no doubt eventually be heard. Reference to the matter was made in the House of Representatives today, when Mr P. Fraser (Labour) gave notice that he would put a question to the Government as follows: 1. Whether at any time during the past two years the Education Department has considered it necessary to take certain exceptional action in regard to the financial administration and management of the Wellington Education Board, of which the hon. Minister was a member for a number of years, until he was elevated to Cabinet rank? 2. Whether he will lay on the table of the House the complete file of correspondence, if any, between the Education Department and the Wellington Education Board on the subject of the latter body’s financial administration and all documents relating thereto? 3. Whether during the last two years the Education Department has insisted upon a special audit of the Wellington Education Board’s accounts, and, if so, who the auditors were, by whom they were appointed, and what was the result of the audit, if it took place ? 4. Whether he will lay a copy of the auditor’s report, if any, on the table of the (House for the information of the public and their parliamentary representatives?
