LAND COMPANY CHARGED.
AUCKLAND, July 2. \ An action was heard in the Court before Mr E. C. Cutten, S.M., inn which Mr V. R. Meredith (Crown Prosecu-] tor) proceeded against the Burke Organisati tion (New Zealand) Ltd. Mr Hampsom I appeared for the organisation. It waal alleged that the Organisation had com-i mitted an offence by helping John Douglas Al’Kie. owner of land, to sub-divide it fan sale and other dispositions before the plan of that land had been approved by tho Minister of Lands In outlining the case Mr Meredith said the facts were most intricate. The organisation had been operating and selling properties, and its method had been the formation of a number of subsidiary companies. Iq| this particular case the title used waa thei Inverness Land Company, but virtually speaking this company was just the child of Burke's organisation. Now Burke's organisation had sold sections to various purtYi isers where no plan of the section J bad been approved, and, of course, dimy culties had arisen. The purchasers wer* not able to obtain building permits therefore, could not build. The case was adjourned.
