An employee of the General Post Office, Christchurch, Mr J. C. M‘Clellan, has petitioned Parliament, asking that his character be cleared from tno stigma caused by a false allegation of theft made ; against him in September of last year (says the Christchurch Press). He was, he states, falsely accused of stealing a postal note for 15s, and although his case was dismissed by the magistrate, the department had never acknowledged by letter his clearance, neither had the department reimbursed his legal and other expenses as he had asked.
